Harry Potter Evening

Wow the room 7 was a real hit as we raised over $150!!!!!

We had quizzes, Food, Songs, Competitions and other things.

I really liked it. I wasn't able to dress up as anything but there was some really cool costumes.

The winner of the costume competition was Ben. R with the costume of Nearly Headless Nick. It was really good.

It was quite a good Fund raising event.

Winter Tournament 2010

Yesterday (the 24th of August) it was the 2010 Winter sports tournament. I wasn't allowed to take part in the Tournament because I had Concussion but instead I got the job of of being the photographer. I went on the bus with all the other netballers/soccerpalyers and baketballers. First stop was Jack Robins stadium and we dropped off the baketballers. The next stop was at saxton field where everybody else got off. I went over to the soccer pitches to take some footage of the players before they played. After the first match started I went over to the Rugby players and took some team photos of them. The hockey players were playing there second game they lost there first game. I took a video of Trinity then left to the vollyballers I watched there game then took a team photo. I also had lunch with them because it was about one o'clock by then. after I finished my lunch I went over to the Netballers and took a team photot of both teams and headed back to the soccer pitches where they had just finished there last game. We all headed back to the bus and later when we got back to school I downloaded the videos i took at the tournament then I heard the bell go so I packed the video camera up and went to after school program. When my Mum picked me up from after school care I told her all about my really busy day.

Cross Country Racing

On Thursday last week our school had our school cross country race. I'm a year six girl and the year six girls was the first race to go. We lined up at the starting line and Dave slammed the two pieces of wood together and we shot out around the corner like elephants towards the front field and when we had gone round the front field we went round towards the backfield. My Mum was taking a photos and cheering me on as I was running. I got to the backfield and went round the zig-zags racing like a farari at top speed. I went up the steps and down the hill past room 11 and 12 and back at the front field for the 2nd time. We did the same thing and came back down around the front field and through the finishing shoot and we got our places. I came 13th. I didn't mind getting 13th because I wanted to get higher than tenth place because when you get tenth place or under you go into the inter schools which is really hard because you have to run through brown muddy puddles and jump over things like a springbok.I don't like that kind of thing.

Current events 24th May 2010

In class every week we write about a current event that has been happening around the world. So I’m going to write mine on my blog.

Thirteen year old Jorden Romere has been climbing ever since he was nine. When Jorden was ten he climbed Mount Kilimanjaro, but now he has climbed the biggest mountain in the world Mount Everest at the age of 13. It’s amazing that someone at that age could manage to do what Jorden is doing. My opinion is that it is amazing that he could climb Mount Everest and I hope that he will carry on doing what he loves doing. That has to be a record!

Extinction

In my class we have been writing explanations mine is on extinction here it is…

Extinction means something that doesn’t live anymore. It could be an animal, plant, place or forest that has been completely destroyed so there’s nothing left.

Earth change that make animals plants forests become extinct are poachers, hunters, natural disasters, human impact and habitat changes. For example the Dodo is now extinct because in the Indian islands of Mauritius, People shot them to eat that now there are absolutely none left in the world.

When things are near Extinction we call them endangered animals. When animals are endangered Zoo’s and zoological parks go searching for some to take care of and breed.

Every time you see someone wearing a fur coat made from an endangered species, remember that to have that nice warm fur coat it would have killed an animal.

Yay

Yay, not long ago my parents told my brothers and I that on my birthday that maybe we will be going to Australia. I have been living in New Zealand for 4 years and a bit, I came from England to New Zealand in 2005. We haven't been on a proper holiday on an airaplane or out of New Zealand ever since we came here so I'm very excited.

Findout awards

This is my findout I'm going to present at the findout awards It's about 2012.

On Wednesday the 31st of March Room 7 are having there findout award. We start in the morning by doing the findout awards then we have Pizza for lunch with our Buddy's then we go down to the Riverside pool for a swim then back at at school.

The Cay

The Cay is a story about a Negro man Called Timothy and a young boy called Phillip. When the ship carrying Phillip and his mother on the way to Miami to get away from War the Haito ship is sunk by a German sumbarine and Phillip finds himself blind and on a raft with an old black Negro Man and a cat. Phillip's dependence on the wise old Timothy and their struggle to stay alive on a deserted Cay with no food and no water. This is a Non fiction story and it's a Great survival story.

On the way down the hill there was heaps and heaps of dung and Aimee and I fell over and Aimee got poo in her hat, she didn't realise and put her hat back on and all the poo fell down her hair. We laughed so hard.

My Best friend and I

These are some pics of me and My Best friend Angel at my 7th Birthday party. Angel has been my Best friend for three years all though she left for 2 years.She is still my Best friend now.

Swimming carnival

On the second of March 2010 the Totara syndicate (yr5 and 6, 4 classes) at Nelson Central school participated in the Totara swimming carnival our carnival was all about participation and fun. It included Freestyle,Backstroke,Butterfly,relays and even piggyback races.It was really fun to watch.

Weet bix Tryathlon

On Sunday the 28th of Feb At least 60 kids from Nelson Central School took part in the Weet bix Tryathlon down at the Tahunanui grounds. The swim part of the tryathlon was cancelled due to the tsunami in chili, but we added an extra run so it took as long as it did before hand.
Everyone that took part in the Tryathlon got given a medal. We all had to wear the same top that looked awesome.
